Shrine of Remembrance Day:Recount

On 3rd of September 2014 on a Wednesday, we went to an excursion at the Shrine of Remembrance day Melbourne, to remember the people who battled for Australia.

We got there by bus and then we were seated in specific seats. A few minuets later we were handed out booklets of what was going to happen, and what we were going to do.

We  were seated at 10:45 with others schools there as well. It started at 11:00am…. A person named Mr Paul Sheahan started to talk, who was here (schools), and then  he got a chaplain to read a paragraph  (prays).

After the chaplain finished what he said, we then had song, sang by a choir, the song was called “Be still my soul”

After the song had finished we then listened to some prepared speeches on Mateship and Teamwork

1st was: Ben Martin reading “Teamwork in the battle of the Bismarck sea”

2nd was : Mitch Groenewald reading “Mateship on the Kooda Track”

3rd was: Kynen Teesdale reading “Chaplaincy and Mateship”

4th was: Adele Pridham reading “Mateship in the horrors of hellfires pass”

5th was: Keanu stinson reading “Mateship at the Caulfield Recruit camp”

Last was: Maggie Brittingham reading “Teamwork on a battle class destroyer” To me all of their speeches were great!

After the prepared speeches we sang another song and it was called “i am Australian”

After the song we had a keynote address from Rear Admiral John lord.

A few minuets after the Rear Admiral John Lord had finished we had the chaplain to read another a paragraph again.

Before the last paragraph that the chaplain was going to read we had a minuet of silence and then we sang the National Anthem (while we were standing up).

It was a few minuets later after then sit down and got ready for the conclusion, and we had a stretch and we also had refreshments. Before we knew it we went back to school.

Math Mate term 3 sheet 6 problem 23, 2014

Predict:i predict this is going to be about the four operations

Read:I think of a number, add 15 and then divide by 4. If the result is 5, what was the original number?

Clarify: nothing to clarify

Big question:what was the original number

Mathematician’s toolbox: Guess, check and improve and draw a diagram

Solve: since it was add then divide i did 5×4 cause that is the reverse of divide which i got 20 then i subtract it which i got 5 which the answer was 5.

Summary: My prediction was spot on the problem that it had the 4 operations.

100 wc challenge week 1

“Finally we can make a start”The principle said

We were waiting for 1 hour for the spring fete tickets, they were somehow delayed cause apparently they realized they didn’t have any how dumb are they instead they got pieces of rectangular papers…. GOD

The line was so long it looked like a dragon that was 20 foot long, i NEVER knew it was going to be so long, and i got so bored that i started to day dream.

It was sometime later when someone taped on my shoulder and said

“hello, umm can you move up?” and then i finally got a ticket YAY!!

BTN: Healthy Vending, 2014

This healthy vending machine, is not a machine were you receive a chocolate bar or chips instead you receive fruit and healthy things.

Things in the vending machine people often say that chocolate bars are wrapped and so are chips but what about fruit… The company say they only pick the fruit that are tasty, they also restock it everyday to make sure it is not rotten and moldy.

This idea came from a student.

Math mate term 3 sheet 4 problem 22,2014

Predict: i predict this is going to be about consecutive numbers because i have seen a similar problem.

Read: he sum of four consecutive whole numbers is 94. What are the four numbers?

Clarify: nothing to clarify

Big Question: What are the four numbers to equal 94.

Mathematician Tool Box: have i seen a similar problem and guess check and improve

Solve: first i choose a two digit number because to equal u to 94, so i estimated 3 but it goes to far because there is four and if you do 4×3 it equals 12 so i did two.

Then i did 21 + 22 + 23+ 24=90 so i went higher cause it didn’t equal 94

After i tested 22 + 23 +24 +25=94

Summary: Overall the answer was 22,23,24 and 25 and my prediction was right because i used my prior knowledge of seeing a similar problem

Math mate term 3 sheet 3,problem 22,2014

Predict: I predict this is going to be adding or subtracting numbers to get a certain number.

READ:The sum of three consecutive whole numbers is 96. What are the three numbers?

Clarification: Consecutive means: number that are in the row example 1,2,3

Big Question: three consecutive numbers must equal 96

Mathematician’s Tool Box: have i seen a similar problem, guess, check and improve and draw a diagram.

Solve: Firstly, i got numbers that could equal 9 which was 3+3+3=9, then i  thought of numbers that could equal 6, i randomly picked 0+1+2=3 which didn’t work so i did 1+2+3=6 so that was the answer 31+32+33=96

Summary: in conclusion the answer was 31,32 and 33 which my summary was half correctly.

BTN: Fist vs shake ,2014

Scientist believe that shaking hands transfers 10 times more bacteria than fist bumping(if fist bumping is not your thing high fives are still better than hand shakes) , scientist say if you do less hand shakes you will get less sick, but you will not really see the Prime Minister do a fist bump or high five.

Examples:

Phones and tablets could have up to 30 germs.

Computer desk has up to 400 germs.

Kitchen sponge has up to 200,000 germs.

You can stop spreading germs by washing your hands

Math mate term 3 sheet 2

Predict: i predicted this is going to include two numbers

Read: Carl looked at the page numbers on the open book in front of him. The left and right page numbers added to 333 what were the page numbers.

clarify: no clarification

Big Question: What are the two numbers that add up to 333

Mathematician’s tool box: have i seen a similar problem and test all possibilities.

Solve: first i did 333 divide 2 which equals 166 r 1 so i did 166 plus (take another 166 and plus the remainder which equals 167) 167 equals 333 so that was the answer.

Summary: the summary was that my prediction had two numbers but didn’t have two pages included but over all i got he answer right

BTN: AIDS awarness,2014

In back in the olden days things were very strict and if you misbehaved for example talking in class you would get two strokes of the cane, it was called “Corporal Punishment” it was to make them behave more by smacking them on the bottom, hand or leg. The boys got hit on the hand with a ruler but the girls got hit on their leg.

In now a days it’s is not allowed and hardly to find some schools still use it.
